Hopemobile
Peter Thomas, chief honcho at Stockdale and Leggo has been funding, alone, the provisioning and running of a food van, visiting St. Kilda every week for years. An unsung hero!
Henry Ser, one of ours, another unsung hero, offered to join him and soon took over. Peter still provisioned the van.
Since we had recently been given a new food van, to Emerald Hill Mission actually, one of my 3 service delivery organisations, Peter Thomas agreed we could put his van to whatever use we chose.

Andrew Decker, our PR man, had already suggested “Hopemobile” as a cute name for a mobile information centre already flagged by me.
Some citizens need food and company. Others need information and an invitation to become shareholders in locally grown and capitalised socially innovative projects.
The latter is what the Father Bob Maguire Foundation is all about.
The Hopemobile is meant to cruise the CBD, Docklands, Southbank, park (legally!) and offer an espresso or latte to anyone who takes a brochure or expresses interest in our mobile social capital exchange.
Some of you who don’t want to give out food may like to give out info.
Hopemobile isn’t a luxury vehicle but a tough, no nonsense RV. Bob Maguire.
