Fundraising facts
The Fr Bob Maguire Foundation is a listed Public Benevolent Institution (PBI). That is, it’s a non-profit institution organised for the direct relief of poverty, sickness, suffering, distress, misfortune, disability or helplessness. The characteristics of a PBI are:
- It is set up for needs that require benevolent relief
- It relieves those needs by directly providing services to people suffering them
- It is carried on for the public benefit
- It is non-profit
- It is an institution, and
- Its dominant purpose is providing benevolent relief.
The foundation relies entirely upon the the proceeds from its fundraising efforts to operate - the generous donations from individuals and businesses.
A donation to the Foundation is also an investment made by that person or organisation in the social capital of the communities in which the Fr Bob Maguire Foundation provides services.
